Shit

That's right, I said it!  At least it was not the F word.  I try not to use "Fort" as a header... it is just too controversial.  In any event, this was a great Memorial Day weekend.  The rain held off and we had wonderful weather.  80s and sunny? Not too shabby. On Friday we had a solid but not exceptional dinner at L'Amante.  The brussel sprouts were a little dry but the bolognese as usual was phenomenal.  Saturday we went over to the 'Dacks and hiked Giant Mtn.  Dang, I was spent.  It is 7.2 miles all in and fairly steep.  Great views but in the heat and all it was pass out time!  Sunday was to be an off day, nope! My folks came up and instead of a casual brunch and stroll around Shelburn Farms, we tore out the rose bushes and a tree and redid one of our gardens.  8 hours of sweat, dirt, and blood was not a day off!!!  Even Monday we spent a good part of the day gardening and such.  We did go for a lovely BBQ at friends K&D in Charlotte which was a nice way to wrap up.  I will tell you one thing, if that new planting dies I might bash myself in the head w/ a hoe.  Hoe... hahahaha.

So one thing... I thought I had got to the point in my career where I would no longer have to fill out a time sheet.  I may get killed just for saying this but yup, I now have to fill out a time sheet for a salary job. If I don't post within the next week tell my family I love them and call the po-po!!!!  Just kidding.  The cops won't help.

How did you like the mobile post?  Send a comment and let me know, it might become a bigger part of my arsenal.

A First!

This is my first live blog post/ establishment review... I am at capt. Jack's Tiki Bar in the alley behind Ken's Pizza. Pretty budget when you are in the alley BEHIND a dumpy pizza joint! This is where they used to keep the dumpsters. That said, they repaved the space and put in new furniture. I am drinking a half way decent dark n stormy and listening to Jimmy Buffet. Service is fine although my waitress looks bored as hell. Did I mention I am the only one here? Maybe I need a Mai tai!!!

Hey Sorry About That

I have been a bit out of the loop lately.  Job stuff got pretty intense.  Let's just say I cannot mention my new employer, that I even work for them, what restrictions I might have are, or that it is even a real company.  Nope it is not the government or Fight Club.  In any event... I am back and just working out a new routine.

So my latest adventure was my fender bender for being an idiot.  I can admit when it is my fault. @ bright spots came out of it though. Dings, Dents, and Scratches did a wonderful job w/ the body work and the local Hertz on Rt 7 in South Burlington provided the most painless car rental I have ever had, with a big assist from Maine Mutual Insurance. I was in and out on the rental and return within 15 minutes, they did not hassle me or try and up sell me, and the car was new and clean.  A brand new Chevy Cruz w/ XM radio and the works is a pretty nice ride all things being equal. It is never fun being in an accident but when your insurance team and the others supporting them do a good job it helps.

Not sure I mentioned this but we did see the Avengers and it was really pretty good.  The reviews are spot on, it is fun and the Hulk is finally interesting. 1 3/4 thumbs up.

Also... my cat ripped of the Y key on this laptop so it is really difficult to type.  Thanks Boomer.

When it rains....

It pours!  And this week the flood gates were open.  What a pain in the nuts.  So the crescendo was when I was driving down 7 after work and this college chick pulled in front of me cutting me off.  I pulled around and gave her a disapproving head shake.  Little did I know that karma was to have the last word that day.  As I continued driving I went to pull around another driver, unfortunately I had lost track of a Volvo in my blind spot and I dinged her.  Most of the damage was of course to my car.  That was pretty much the last thing i needed at that point. Besides herpes.

I have also recently had to start thinking about my future outside of blogging for a small disinterested audience.  My NBA career is probably out as I do not have a single tattoo.  Rock star?  I don't do heroin.  Cheetah and tiger wrangler?  Hmmm... now we are getting somewhere.  Of course then I remember when trying to give my cat ear drops for his gross ear dirt he splattered it all in my eyes, imagine ear drops for 700lb. cat? F*** that!  Too Big to Fail Bank CEO?  Um... I need to get better at losing money, then lying about it.  Ok, I've got it!  Most interesting man in the world... what, there already is one?!  Damn it!  Video game designer.  Not a nerd.  I'm NOT A NERD!!!  Fine... I will stick to my day job, male model.

Hey want to get in trouble at work?  It's Kate Upton!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34hWlRJHCqs&feature=g-all

How about a little Batman awesomeness?!  http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer/the-dark-knight-rises/feature-trailer   I got you!

Oh shit... this is not a joke but just happened as I was typing.   R.I.P. Adam Yauch. This group came a long way from the Fight for Your Right to Party days and will truly be missed

What an Asshole

Let's all give it up for our Burlington city attorney nominee Ian Carleton, he is sticking both feet in his mouth before even getting the job!  When explaining why he should get a higher salary than normally would be allocated he said "I graduated from the best law school in the country," alluding to his Yale education. “It was the best when I was there, and it still is,”

Well, there you have it... that guy deserves more money folks.  I am convinced!  Now I am not saying it is not an impressive degree, it certainly is and Yale is by most accounts the top ranked law program and has been for years.  On the other hand he graduated over 2 decades ago.  Certainly a more rational discussion is current service to the community and sticking to his sacrifice of compensation leaving private practice.  By making the Yale quip he comes across as a petulant and entitled brat.  It was certainly a question that Mayor Miro had to be prepared for.  Hiring Yale cronies is fine... hiring them and then have them make dooshy comments is quite another thing.  I may be wrong but like New Hampshire and Maine, Vermont is proud of its salt of the earth do it yourself no nonsense attitude and this flies in the face of that sentiment.  I am certainly guilty of taking a haughty air and acting like an entitled jerk... then again I am not running for public office and asking for a pay bump in a city where the in place salary is 2-3X the median income for residents?

At the end of the day politics is about delivery right?  Every word and sentence must be measured and the audience must be considered.  Unlike this blog where I can say all the dumb shit I like.  Only 4 people are reading it anyway.
